     History
First owner of the land was Captain Michel-Sidrac du Guè de Boisbriant in 1672. In 1679 Charles Le Moyne and Jacques Le Ber owned the place until 1686 when Le Ber was named Sieur Le Ber de Senneville and built a windmill to produce flour from the grain. Six years later a fortress was built because the previous one was razed by a fire as it was made of wood.

The fortress was an important element in the wars of 1692 and 1714. The place was burned down in 1776 by General Benedict Arnold during the American invasion of 1776.

     Future Plans
The fort was classified as a provincial historic site in November 2003. Quebec's Ministry of Cultural Affairs is financing work to stabilize the crumbling masonry to the tune of $410,000. The Hackney family (owners of the property) and the citizens group Friends of Senneville are petitioning Parks Canada to purchase the fort and turn it into a National Historic Site.
