     History
    This rotating train bridge was built over the canal to allow boats to pass when there were no trains. The bridge was disused around 1970. The bridge next to it is also interesting to look at, it was a pair of lift bridges shorn of its towers. there are pictures of both bridges a few blocks north where the viaduct crosses peel, the second picture shows the lift bridge in the background with its towers still on http://www.uer.ca/...al.asp?picid=26497 its clearer in this pic http://www.uer.ca/...al.asp?picid=26501

    Edit by Tap: The bridge was built by the Dominion Bridge Co. of Lachine for the grand trunk railway.
