The buildings are in the process of being torn down, it will be standing for two weeks tops. This mall was one of the first malls in Ontario believe it or not.

Construction on Rexdale Mall began in the mid 1950's (1955?), opened to the public in 1956. Built as an open air mall, converted into an enclosed mall in the 1970's or early 80's.
Most of mall building demolished, with anchor store buildings at north and south ends surviving as an Oriental supermarket and a Wal-Mart in the redeveloped plaza today.

Update: 2006 onwards, The property has been completely redeveloped; however, a sizable chunk of the mall remains and has been converted to a Oriental supermarket and some smaller stores. There is a basement to this building that contains a fitness facility. Still of interest is the covered parking garage with the main entry way on the west and north sides of the original mall structure. At last check in 2006, this parking garage was completely filled with brand-new Hondas awaiting delivery to dealerships - very cool.
