Dixmont opened in 1862 and housed over a thousand patients during it's peak years. It was closed in 1984 by Reaganomics, and it's patients turned out onto the street. I did not add the following update, so I am not responsible for the spelling or the information. ~Kriss
**Addition/Update**
During Dixmont's peak years it held over 1500 patients and was also used by the rich of the day as a "health retreat". No one was infact turned onto the streets, those who where deamed unfit to rehab into society where transfered to the diffrent hospitals around the area. It closed it's doors in 1984, in recent years those who onced worked at dixmont held a "reunion" a few years back.
