     History
The Mount Sinai Hospital building sits on a 25-acre parcel of land and was in continuous operation from 1930 to 1998. It is an example of Art Deco or Northern Deco architecture and was designed by Charles Davis Goodman and David Jerome Spence.

Dr. Norman Bethune worked at the hospital in the early thirties and the property has influenced the lives of the many people who worked there or were patients over the ensuing years. In the 1940’s experiments began using antibiotics in the treatment of tuberculosis and the Laurentian hospitals figured in the forefront of this research, undertaking experiments from as early as 1947. By 1954, the cure was found and all the patients could be treated and eventually sent home.

Today the building is abandoned and has been vandalised.
     Media Coverage
The gazette, Canadian Jewish news, about if the building should be kept.
     Future Plans
A small group of person wants the place to converted into university faculties, low income housing, artist colony, but because of the high cost for cleaning the basement and soil, it will be demolished for 2005.
