What exactly is the "sinter" process?

i'm not too sure either, but I know from the rail forums that Delaware & Hudson used to get really pissed at N.L. because the material going into their cars was hot enough to blister the paint off of them...

If I play it right, I should still find rods in what remains of the place.

Flotation; via Nuke or magnetic, you bring out the iron particles, then mill into rods, then sinter via heat. The plant had piles of ilmenite rods ready to go. All I want for xmas is a chunk of ilmenite for the garden or a bundle of rods.

For some reason this shot has a medieval feel to it. That LotR castle of a building on that dark horizon. Nice shot.
