|  | | | I was wondering if the Screaming Tunnel in Niagara Falls is still accessible. I heard it's not anymore since April 2011. I read there's cameras and security but I find that hard to believe. Has anyone been here in the past month or so? Also. Does anyone know a place nearby me and my friend could camp out?
Edit: I mean the Blue Ghost Tunnel not the Screaming Tunnel. Sorry!

There are 2 tunnels that are of interest in the Niagara Region. You asked about the Screaming Tunnel.
The "Screaming Tunnel" is in Niagara Falls, people will tell you it's Thorold, some will say St. Catharines. It's officially Niagara Falls. it's not a train tunnel, simply a short drainage tunnel that goes under the railway line on Garner road. This is still 100% accessable. Just have the respect to be quiet when you are there, as the house across the street has had many an issue with screaming girls at Midnight lighting matches, blah blah blah.

The Grand Trunk Railway Tunnel aka Merritton Tunnel aka Blue Ghost Tunnel is located in Thorold, Ontario. Many will argue this as well and state St. Catharines usually. It's officially Thorold.

The Grand Trunk Railway Tunnel is the tunnel that a few years ago was bricked up at the West Entrance. And recently there was a barbed wire fence, automatic gate, cameras, lights, and many no trespassing signs placed up on the Seaway Haulage road that leads to GM Gate 12. Also the way most used to go to park and walk the short distance to the tunnel.
There are other ways to get there now, but rest assured there is massive security there, and there will be even more after the canal closes for the winter as it's what many of the workers do in the off season to prevent layoff. They now have a no tolerance policy, and if caught on Seaway property, the police will be called and you will be charged with Trespassing on the spot.
This is the new Gate, Fencing, Lighting and Camera system they have set up now:

People used to make the journey to the BGT a lot back in the day, but there still wasn't MASSIVE traffic, so the Seaway tolerated it. THEN Creepy Canada along with that sham of a paranormal ground "Haunted Hamilton" teamed up to not only TRESPASS on Seaway property but film it and air it on TV. This lead to MASSIVE traffic from people coming every night. Cars were getting locked in behind the gates, police were called, fires started, massive damage and tagging being done. The Seaway was fed up and bricked up the tunnel. That lasted all of 12 hours, and was never repaired, so now, they had enough, they put in the new security measures to assure they weren't libel and would be able to prosecute if need be.
Before people kept just ripping down the NO TRESPASSING signs, they would get injured and the Seaway would settle out of court when sued, guess that got old
Here is an article about the sealing of the tunnel, and they even mention Creepy Canada, and and I am quoted a couple times as well I am Kevin.
As for camping. Well honestly, when you get near the Screaming Tunnel it's almost the end of garner road. I DOUBT parking there would be a problem, in the turn about that is. And once you walk through the tunnel staright ahead there is a path into a wooded area, there is an old foundation back there and a well if you go left. I don't think there would be an issue camping out a night there, don't know who owns the land, may even be the city, since they were doing highway expansions in the area a while back.

Just because it was TAGGED with a website, doesn't mean it was by them dude. The guy from Hamilton Paranormal was in a bus crash years ago and can hardly walk, let alone do the hike to the tunnel.
How would you feel if someone tagged your name in spray paint on the wall, and turned around blaming you and calling your a douche?
Maybe you should concentrate on the morons actually spraying paint on the limestone wall, that will never come off, rather than being concerned about magic marker on wood, that will, and wasn't even done by those people.
This is why I refuse to explore with anyone under 25
