More Underground Exploration of the Mines at Randsburg and Red Mountain < on 2/27/2012 8:23 AM >
Spent a couple days this weekend camping out in the desert. We spent a lot of time at the abandoned mining camp called Dog Patch located to the west of Red Mountain, CA. Dog Patch is strewn with old, abandoned buildings as well as a few deep, dangerous mine shafts. Video highlights are here:

That was such a great video. Thanks for shearing. Underground is where I feel at home, but surprisingly haven't done many mines. This looks like a great spot to see! The Rebel Urban Explorer

Good stuff! To be honest I never watch the videos, but I probably need to, cause there is definitely some cool stuff in them. Also love how you showed Rob's time lapse stuff. Up until now I just kind of pictured him on a hill with his camera on a tripod while he sat ina lawn chair hitting the remote every so often hehehe. Kind of cool to see the more technical side of it. If I had the knowledge of electronics I'd have the camera on a motor to move the dolly for me. I do 2 hour segments and go through episodes of The Walking Dead on my IPhone.
Still out here in the desert. Checking out mines around Lone Pine.
Edit: we met Todd to a rude awakening while we were still sleeping. He had called the fire department and sherif. After meeting them all Todd realized we were neather scrappers or noobs to mine exploration. Within an hour we had become friends. Within 5 hours we were hanging out at his place talking about our next explore together. The most advanced mine explorer I have ever met. Expert climber, treasure hunter and scientist. I concur! The whole experience meeting, exploring with, and hanging out with Todd was totally unplanned and unexpected. That is the best way to do things sometimes.

Sounds like an awesome trip guys =)
I don't suppose you got pics of you standing in the stacked tractor tires? heh
I love that little outhouse there that has two seats right next to eachother. Seems like such a friendly thing to do, take your morning dump with someone to talk to and play rock-paper-scissors with! Give a person a match and they'll be warm for a minute, but light them on fire and they'll be warm for the rest of their life. =)
