|  | | | wow it seems like we just arrived here. its been a wonderful year full of tons awesome adventures, new friends & locations. when Alice & i first came in here we really didn't know what to do with ourselves, i don't think we really knew what we were getting into. Fortunately for us we were given a very warm welcome. in the months to come Alice & i scoured the Basic Member DB stuff, google earth & the threads to get a feeling for the community. we checked out every spot that so much as looked at us funny..
...having started the year where a lot of us around here started in the marin headlands we continued on our mission to find, visit & explore everything to do with the bay area coastal defense system & it's older historical military installations...
..this is me..

..my exploring partner & the love of my life..
..some serious research yields an underground wonderland..
or
..we tracked down our second secret bunker & had a gas..
..our first tip off sends us right where Alice had already planned to take us, a well known woody bunker..
..a watery piece of history..
..a lonely chair..
..or two..
..i thought i was first to find a nearby sugar mill, i was equally glad & sad to discover someone from UER had visited it before me..
..got some grapes underfoot..
..had some trouble & learned some lessons: humility is the first step to openness..
..we made some friends & saw some trains..thanks cowboy!
..we shared with some new friends zombiemeat & decrepitude..
..the DB sends us a roundhouse kick..
..zombiemeat, decrepitude & Fusspot coORDinated rust tour for Tasmith, vectored approach, Alice & myself ..
..the next day Alice & i sought & achieved the impossible..
..we go out with B&C on the first of many many adventures..
..and create an amazing exploring force of nature..
..our circle of friends just kept growing..
..learned somethings on equestrian isle...
..returned to the rabbit hole..
..with more new friends..
..watched nature retake her claim..
..chased some shadows & explored BW..
..branched out a little farther..south..
..and made even more friends..
..played with color some..
..refined some more exploring techniques..
..we had a foreign explorer visit & made another friend & UE canadian contact..
..our first little prank..

..and then the first big find, finally a real opportunity to contribute something new..
..the next official meet, very large, very fun, some familiar faces & some more new friends..thank ZM, D, FP & everyone else that put it together!

..our first planned event..SinCal & lil Bugsy in wonderland:
3 days + 8 explorers + 11 locations + over 353 linear miles & 110 vertical feet + 32 total hours = super awesome aaaaaaaaaadventure tiiiiiiiiiiiiime...
day one: 100 miles driven, 3+ miles walked, 70 feet underground traversed, four locations explored. total time 9hrs
day two: 170 miles driven, three 2-stories, three locations. total time 13 hours
day three(yes three): 81 miles driven, 40 feet underground & one 2-story building, three locations explored. total time 10 hours..
..rabbitholed..
&
..Meta washed off on us..
..got toasty high..
..a quick trip to so cal's velvet wallpaper..
..the next big find was flotsam..
..we throw another lil' convention down south & met a great crew down there, this time it was official..
..toyland christmas..
..return to a world less ORDinary..
..boatworks & naval bases..
&
..a back stage pass..
..seen concrete evidence of growth in skill & challenge..
..a taste of things to come..
..exit stage right..
some of these are out of order, sometimes its hard to keep track. there are so many places we haven't made it to editing yet & so many places on our list to visit. i guess that is it in a nutshell..thanks making it all possible UER!! thank you all for exploring, inspiring & participating in my first year on UER.

Wow guys, we feel the same way!! We have learned from all of you and have so much fun every time we go out. We never knew we would find such great friends through all of this, and now you are our closest friends as well.
Thanks for all the comments guys. This was all madcap. While I would love to take credit, he took all of these photos and wrote up this great summary. I might do one too, but these words really do sum it up for the both of us. Good job madcap! It is amazing to see all that we have done in a year. And we haven't even finished editing all of the places we have been! There are so many more!
