Panamint City trip - anyone interested?

I've been feeling the need to get the hell out of dodge lately! I think Panamint City might be just what the doctor ordered.

Looking at late Sep to mid Oct, covering appx. 4 days. The hike is very strenuous, backpacking experience is required. Very remote location with no nearby emergency services. Must pack in all food and enough water to get to PC, but there's a water source at the top (needs filtration).

Some of you may remember the thread from a prior trip; everyone had a great time except for my dog. lol. =P

If anyone is tentatively interested, post up and let me know. I'd be able to drive myself +2 with gear, leaving from 91/55 area.

Ugh. Killer hike. Someday I'd like to check out the rest of the adits up there we never got to the first time.

Hard to say what's gonna happen between now and then, we'll see.

There's plenty to see. Cabins and equipment/machinery from the 1880's and the 1980's. The road is all washed out, so you have to hike in now. The massive smokestacks from the 1880's mill site. The modern installation from the 1980's mill site.

You could poo in the toilets if you rig the water supply up to fill the toilet tank, otherwise you just kinda poo wherever and cover it up.

There's lithographic art there from days long ago. There's the mines far up on the hill, the Wyoming adits, and some others apparently. There's the "hillbilly hottub", which I think needs to make a functional comeback, and there's lots of other niffty things there.

But, you only get to see it all if you can make the hike up there. To which I say, "good luck!"

(bring a water filter)

Yes please. I am determined to do hemlock and connect a shaft near it to wyoming. I also want to map the ruins. I'd go up with a group but spend a week.
