I was digging through my photo archives and stumbled upon some videos we had completely forgotten we had taken. (Probably because they are less than fantastic, but opted to post them because of their timely reappearance.)
The video clips were shot March 29, 2009. All of the buildings, ramps, and even the asphalt in this video have since been demolished.
"Could be worse" camera work by Decrepitude. First, sub-optimal attempt at video editing by me.

wow. bummer this is unwelcome change. was this area all that has been demo'd so far? is the demo equipment/team still there? does it look like they are gonna plow through the whole fort? what a bummer. though this place has been a little trashed there is some serious history here not to mention a lot of structures, barracks, churches & more.
a redevelopment of this size is a long & arduous process, unfortunately this process was started a while back, almost ten years ago. in today's economy, especially california's, this may still take some time to do, obviously they have started. if you haven't seen this place & wanna, it may be time to rush up.

PS i have the redevelopment implementation plan from the city, it has to be submitted in writing & publicly viewable by law. i'm not sure if i should post it here...
i am the other yourself.

I've heard it too many times to ignore it. It's something that I'm supposed to be." http://www.flickr....orers/collections/

Posted by bonnie&clyde So which one of you is learning the bagpipes?
Decrepitude will be playing Amazing Grace on the bagpipes, between the ritual of sinking a pint for each building now gone and cursing the gods of exploration that have forsaken him.
I'll be on stand-by with another rendition queued up on YouTube for when he goes kilt over pipes after his twelfth pint, before even getting out of the motor pool area.

They were working their way east and the cement grinder is just below the Glass warehouse where the old ballfield was. When they have the grinder on site, they mean business. Despite this I was still able to explore some semi-unvandalized buildings I had never been in with Cdracingzx6r and Relocate. Its hard to believe at one time there were 10,000 abandoned buildings on this site and it still seems endless. Get it while it lasts.
I hope they found a home for this thing, the building is now gone....another lost treasure.

I feel blessed to have seen this amazing place...special thanks to Decrepitude and ZombieMeat for showing me around!
See this whole base ASAP if you can.

No problem, we had a great time. I couldn't have asked for a better explore that day. You SoCal guys are real troopers, I still can believe you guys drove up for a day. I think you probably went more than 24 hours without sleep.
