Took a walk up the creek today and found this. The area was used as a quarry for mining the sandstone approximately 1908 until 1967. Blasting and steam shovels were used to excavate the hillside bedrock materials. Electric-powered cars and belt conveyors were used to haul the rock to a crushing plant, into two underground tunnels, and to a loading station. The next owner used it for a picnic area for employees. This place is really overgrown so it was difficult to get shots of the remnants of the quarry, which includes two concrete lined tunnels. I could only find one.

I have fixed the issue and I hope you enjoy my pictures of benches and picnic tables. Are you wondering whats in that big concrete structure? Probably nothing. I was about to enter and I heard some loud noises from something that sounded big. I took off and will save it for another day.

I've heard it too many times to ignore it. It's something that I'm supposed to be." http://www.flickr....orers/collections/

Thanks for fixing. I am now enjoying pictures of picnic tables and BBQs being taken over by nature. And the tunnel is absolutely awesome. You must buddy up and go check that stuff out. That Confined Space sign is very inviting.

interesting. I know exactly where this is but have never gone to look at it.

Where did you find info about it?
