| | | Hey explorers, my name is Ari. I'm new here and new to UE. I discovered this site while doing some research and have been reading a lot about UE but I have yet to go out on any explorations. From what I've read, I've gathered that usually people like to see that you do some stuff on your own before coming to the site to ask for help and such, but I don't really have any friends who are interested in this kind of thing. (I mentioned it to a friend and she said it "sounds dirty"...) So I was hoping maybe someone here is in Los Angeles and wouldn't mind taking me out for my first trip (or two or three, if we get along haha). I'm really excited about it, I just don't want to go alone. I'm pretty into photography (mostly concerts so far, but I'd like to branch out) and I love exploring. Anyway, thanks for reading. Talk to you soon!

| | | We(UER) are usually not so friendly to newbs till they prove them selves. But I do like the way you went about, & the fact that ur a female will also help. Lots of geeks & dorks here that would jump at a chance to even get to talk to a girl. So I am sure a few of your future stalkers will reply with an invitation soon. Good luck & bring peper spray. | | | There is a couple of cool sites in the L.A. harbor area you could start out with. They are pretty well known and not secret or anything. One of the locations is being demolished, and won't be around for long. But there is tons of stuff in the little backwater areas to practice photography.

| | | If any of you ride bicycles, one of the best ways to do some UE in LA is with the Passage ride every Wednesday night. It is not strictly a UE ride, but almost every ride has some UE-like aspects, some much more than others. http://www.theroya...rg/Passage/Passage

| | | Seems you should have no problem finding some fellow explorers down in the L.A. area lately. Seems to be a couple new faces each month popping up. Just troll your way through a few of the recent pages of threads when ya get time and you'll see who's in your area and is into the same stuff as you. Its a start.

| | | Ditto on that bike ride! I'm not a hipster/roadie/single speeder (which also means I won't be asking any of the females on this site to borrow their jeans to wear to the ride), but I'll see if I can procure some street tires for my mountain bike. ;) Oh yeah...and welcome! ;)

| | | Welcome to the site! I would go about this one of two ways... 1. Start out alone with simple, easy sites like the old Griffith Park Zoo, or the Murphy Ranch Nazi camp. Those are literally no risk, walk-right-in endeavors, and then not only will you be more comfortable, everyone else will be more comfortable with you. 2. Find another girl/group and tag along, learning as you go. Even as a guy I would say be wary of meeting up with people one-on-one until you know* them better. *by "know" I mean talk to them online a bunch. With that said what sort of stuff are you interested in? drains/abandoned/active/military?

Wow! A seven year member with seven posts, talk about popin' outta the woodwork? Whats your story girl.............You forgot you joined huh? And I don't understand those single speeders, the first hill you hit, I see everybody off and pushin'. And they're not cheap either....I'll keep my crusty ol' 21 speeder thank you very much.

| | | Thank you to everyone for the welcome and all the info. Yeah I figured "proving myself" is a must but then it seems like a catch-22- go with people to sites, but you have to go to site to prove to people you're worth going with haha. @Relocate: Since I"m just starting out, I'm really pretty much down for anything. Abandoned places, drains, active... It all sounds exciting to me. I need some adrenaline and stuff to photograph in my life.
