|  | | | Went up camping at a family reunion this weekend in Little Grass Valley. We went to the resivour and the dam to do some rock jumping and hiking and while we were there we went to check out the maintenance tunnel entrance to see how far down it was. When we got to it we were suprised to see that someone had left us a way in! So later that night we decided to go back and check it out. We walk down the never ending staircase through the narrow tunnel that had been blasted and cut out of the rock all the way to the bottom of the tunnel. When we got to the bottom we made a short right to find a large blasted out space to our left with a massive 8 ft diameter pipe that takes water from where we were at the bottom of the dam and shoots it out in a huge jet on the opposite side. The air rushing through the tunnel from the pressure shooting out below us was incredible. We turned to our right to find 2 upright entrance pipes with built in ladders on the outside that would be used to climb down where the actual water jet is. There was no way down other than to take the big ladder leaning on the 1st pipe and hoist it down in. We decided against it after we read the warning posted on the pipe of checking for proper air levels before entering  . Putting your head over the pipe and looking down was like sticking your head in front of a speaker at a rock concert. The shooting water from the jet was Extremely LOUD! Found a few other cool odds and ends as well. Here are some pictures i took from my phone so sorry about the quality :/. When i packed for camping i didnt think id be exploring so i didnt bring my camera and everything. Hope you all enjoy

Yeah we were very lucky since theres only a single POE.
