Road trip to T.O to Halifax - Must-See spots close to the hwy 20 east or 185 south?

I'm making a trek out to Halifax and was hoping to do some of the more involved version of sight-seeing along the way. Any suggestions would be very appreciated!

I did a quick search but there were so many results to sift through, I figured I'd do this first and then get sifting.

Thanks

I'm taking the highway 20 east from Montreal, to the 185 south, I don't mind going to far off route if it's a worthwhile endeavor.

hey you might even see a few from that highway while driving through... the malt plant comes to mind as one easy to spot location...

if you have a GPS it should be simple to find your way back on course after you are done exploring.

near the 20 you have a pile...

the malt plant, CBR, the TA building, if you take the ville marie going east, after you come out onto notre dame you could check out the paramount warehouse, and if you got the time/balls maybe you would be into silo number 3.

Keep in mind, these are all locations easily spotted from the street for the most part and aren't on anyone's list of "locations to keep secret" so that's all I am willing to suggest.

good luck on your trip.

The 185 is pretty boring yet one of the most dangerous road in Canada. I've done this road twice a month for over 10 years and I've had my close calls and I've seen my share of deadly head-on collision.

There's a few abandoned restaurants and houses between Montmagny and Rivière-du-Loup where you'll take the 185. Nothing that interesting.

An abandoned strip bar/hotel on the 185 near Cabano. A few abandoned and quite boring cottages as well.

There's one or two abandoned manufactures between Edmunston and St-Léonard.

Fredericton isn't that exciting although UNB have a cute network of tunnels. Ah there's an abandoned train station near Freddy.

Moncton's got a few abandoned places. Shediac has pretty much demo'ed all interesting places in recent years. Hillsborough has a huge abandoned mine network (careful, not easy to get around and dangerous - many cave-ins), an abandoned water tower. Dorchester, on the other side of the Fundy River has an abandoned industrial complex with an abandoned and rusting ferry on the dock.

There are a few places interesting in NS on the way to Hali. Once in/around Hali, there are tons of interesting locations. An abandoned DND residential complex (Shannon Park), an abandoned radar station, an old hospital that is now mostly used for shooting movies/TV series (like Trailer Park Boys)... And if you have some time, go visit McNabb Island, it's pretty cool.

Thanks so much for your speedy replies!

I've been searching the website for most of the locations you've listed and many of them I can't seem to find, maybe because they're listed under different names or I'm looking in the wrong places. I found the McNab island stuff, but finding many sites like silo 3, the malt plant, the TA building and CBR seem to be beyond my noob means.

Perhaps I should just keep my eyes peeled and hope for the best? That is perhaps my favourite way to explore.
