I'm in the Daytona Beach area for the summer, and I would love to go exploring with some fellow urbex-ers! Anyone interested?

There's tons in Daytona. Look for anything that says NASCAR or Harley Davidson on it and avoid it. That's how you find the abandoned stuff.

PM me if you want to get join our board and get fit!

I miss Daytona! It was soo much better before the hurricanes killed that town. I was out there last year and the pier is pretty easy access. Not sure if they were trying to remodel it or what.

Hah. Yeah, that advice seems pretty spot on. I'm staying as far away from any of that stuff as I can anyway.

I'll have to find it, that sounds like it would be beautiful!

I'll probably be out there in October. My family goes every year on my birthday. when you do go, go at night, I'd imagine you can get some very beautiful shots if you have a decent camera..

I want pics!

Dang why weren't you around in Daytona when I was there?

There's stuff there. Just have to look. Not really in the city though.

There's a really big place in Daytona, it's cool but not abandoned. And this place is really huge and awesome. Just watch out for the guard snoozing at his desk. And if you get bored there, then you can go for a jog around the... err track.

oh how wrong you are... and just for the record, 99% of the damaged hotels that were on the beach are gone. was just there, confirmed. nothing but dirt lots on the beach.

*and why would anyone want to go mess around on the track?

Because a 2.5 mile jog + a 1 mile jog to and from your dorm = good excercise.

I don't remember any hotels or anything. I found a few things in NSB but that's kind of the poor side of town.

Thanks! It kept my fatass semi in shape.

Don't ever run on the banked part. Really hard and it kills the ankles.

If you are into non-NASCAR car stuff, what's left of Smokey Yunick's garage is still there, but I haven't been by to see what's left after the fire. Locals are pretty protective, and I think, at least at the time of the fire, there was an operating business on site.

For the non-abandoned car stuff, Grassroots Motorsports is in Holly Hill. They have a few cars in their show room, more than any magazine of that size should. Really cool guys and they'll show you some good places to grab some hidden food. Sometimes finding good food is better than going to this awesome place just to find out that it's a dirt lot.
