| | | There are no abandoned buildings in my city. Ottawa/Gatineau. Well, hardly any. Here is one that I've explored a few times over the years. It was a former biker bunker, that was expropriated and abandoned about 15 years ago. The walls are made of poured cement. There are not bedrooms, just a hang out room. It was originally fenced off with big signs to scare the public away. Notice the Lexan windows? Its easy to get to, no problems accessing the site at all. As a bonus, saw this bird of prey coming out of one of the buildings. Macs Speed. 1.

Oh my. There are tons. Very interesting drains as well. Some places on Bank, some on Cooper, Elgin, the classical E.B. Eddy in Gat', the abandoned water power generating station in the Parc de la Gatineau, great hospital if you have a car and are willing to travel a bit. An absolutely fantastic abandoned mine about 30 minutes form Gatineau, an abandoned ski village as well...
Abandoned hotel next to Portage as well. [last edit 6/3/2011 2:49 AM by maZe - edited 1 times]

I am pretty sure I can cosign this location because I was down in that town the other day and I believe I did spot that.

Been there for years. The security guards of Portage keeps a good eye on this baby but if you put your invisibility cape, you're fine.

| | | ... now that I think about it, there is also a second and a third abandoned mines. The two are open air pit but still there are a few buildings and one is surrounded by abandoned houses. It's nice. I've also heard a lot about the abandoned Hershey (you'll need a car for this one, about 40 mins from downtown Ottawa) but haven't been there myself. you aren't talking about the smith falls hershey are you? I know they finally shut that down a year or two ago... but if you are talking about that one I had no idea it was already abandoned... or what not.
yeah I spent maybe an hour or so in gatineau on monday and I cant remember what street things were on however I am sure I saw quite a few abandoned or abandoned looking spots around.... not to mention a plethora of construction areas.

I have yet to do the drains, but I have done a number of the mines as well as photographed the outside of a number of the buildings mentioned above. What I meant in lack of abandoned buildings is large industrial buildings, which is more my passion to photograph. I tend to find these buildings when traveling to Montreal, Buffalo, Syracuse and Toronto.
