SIMS Athens

It seems that while folks were busy in the Atl area I was doing the same in Athens. I only got to hit one spot. It looks like back in the day it was a supply center for parts for industrial mills throughout the south according to paperwork found. Quite empty now with the roof falling in. I came in early morning and surprised a small group of deer when I climbed through a window. They ran the length of the empty building then back up again before running through an open door to freedom. Just cool to see nature taking over. Got to say sorry for pic quality on this one, hope you enjoy.

I really like number 11. Great contrast! I'm thinking Athens has a ton a hidden places like that and I need to make it out that way soon. Glad you had a good splore.

Athens is full of abandoned places...some are so obvious you'd totally overlook them, and some are well hidden.

Awesome find, dude! Had no clue this was even there haha

Athens really is full of a ton of cool shit. I know for a fact that there is a tunnel that runs from the downtown area all the way to the river as well as other tunnels that connect many of the older buildings. I think we need to spend more time picking around Athens.

Count me in. Schedule quite flexible, as you know. Weekdays work.

Friend of mine and I have heard of a few tunnels, but can never find a location. Definitely need to team up!

Stopped by this place about a month ago. They had the grass cut, and tehre were a couple of trucks there with a few folks in white polo's and jeans checking out the place. Assuming someone's got future building plans.

I'm going to have to go through my archives now, I know that I have it somewhere. There is a tunnel that connects the downtown area to the river that was uncovered during some road construction. There was a write up on it in the Flagpole some years ago. Also many of the buildings and some of the bars on Main are connected via tunnel. Time to get off my ass and start searching city planning records, someone knows.

If anyone has future plans for this place its going to have to involve leveling it first. Looks like a quick return visit to my beloved SIMS is in order.
