"The Wellington control tower was shut down in 2000 after 57 years of service, its control panel was saved by Exporail and mounted on a display this year for all to see. The single console used to control 57 switches, 64 cross-overs and 197 signals spread out 10 miles around the Montreal region."

I suspect they stopped using it before 2000, but around 2000 there was still power etc...

i have to second you on that one, exporail, like a lot of train museums has a few too many static displays (understandably due to lack of funds) but they do a great job. there are a lot of museums that envy them, sadly i have not been since the construction of the new paviliion. last time i was there it was still the 2 barns. i will have to go!

well they repainted it from what I can see

it appears they used a pine green over a more john deer type of green

And as you can see they really polished her up quite well.. some of the dings could have been hammered out a bit more I think but who knows...

I had to look up these before pics to compare.. because last time I saw it I never thought it would be possible to have it the way it is today all clean like that...

oh by the way I linked those pics from the DB.. they are not mine..

I don't really take many pics, I record sounds while exploring as a select few members here may know. I often use portable field digital recording devices, and sometimes I still use low quality cassette recorders.

yeah it has been a good while since I have been there... but I thought the damage was beyond repair last time I actually saw the console in person...
