List of Possibilities for Sin City

Heya, as some of you know I'm new in the forums, but trying to find some options in Vegas for exploration. You'd think there'd be plenty considering the mass exodus of people from this town, but alas there are very few older structures.

So far all I've been able to come up with are the flood tunnels beneath Vegas. They may be cool, but they're awfully repetitive. Sure, I may have the occasional "adventure" down there (running into an naked old man fapping wasn't what I was hoping for), but I'd really love to find something unique.

So far my only other option that's been suggested is the currently stalled Echlon development. I'll probably be throwing on my "you can't see me" gear and checking that out soon, hopefully getting some good pictures.

If anyone knows of any other interesting areas near Vegas (in southern Utah, Cali or northern Arizona) let me know. I'd be willing to drive to check something out. My resources are limited though, due to the fact that the database for non-full members mainly shows sites that have been demolished already...

What? I'm not supposed to be here? Yes I am officer! You see I have this hard hat on my head! That proves it!

I hate to cross post this, but it's been covered recently. http://www.uer.ca/...d=1&threadid=86434

Please take the time to read the forums more before asking for stuff that's already covered, and asking for handouts. Lucky for you I haven't broken under the strain of all this Christmas s@*& plastered all over the site... I won't rip you a new one like others might. Although, I'm seriously considering ripping my speakers off the wall until it's over.

Nevada is pocked with holes of abandoned mines, the occasional cave, crazy stuff out in the desert. Play to the strengths of your location.

I don't live there but I don't think you'll find many urbex wonderlands in a growing city that's only 60 years old.

I'm assuming he'll claim temporary insanity on asking for handouts. With all this Christmas crap going on, he's probably gone nuts. I know I'm seriously considering sticking my head against my 6' spud cannon and trying to make a more interesting potato salad.

Hey Kefka,

Now that you have endured the ritualistic UER hazing that many of us have dealt with previously we can move on. Welcome to the forum. One of the best ways to scout locations is to locate whatever industrial or manufacturing areas are in or around your city. I imagine this is way more tricky for Vegas as almost everything is brought in on a truck, so you'll have to be more imaginative in your scouting endeavors.
I have always had decent success with checking the local freight rail lines and surrounding industrial areas. I have also had good success with decommissioned military facilities,so check for these in your area.Other places to look out for are old schools, defunct hotels, old mining facilities, mines and old amusement and water parks. Google earth is a huge advantage for the explorer so make sure to utilize this powerful tool as well. Every city is different, so as Teddy Roosevelt once said "Do what you can, with what you have, where you are" Good luck. - d

One final quick word off advice, not sure if he's local anymore but never, ever go exploring with a guy named Lord Rick(his moronic videos on youtube are hilarious though).

Holy CRAP. Some guy actually private messaged me saying you guys would rip me a new one for asking questions on this forum. Guess he was right! Lol.

Who would have thought urban explorers would be such a touchy community eh?

Yeah I saw that, but this town is in constant flux. Wanted some more current info. Believe me, I'm MORE than familiar with the search button.

And yes, the christmas shit made me want to kill people....

I appreciate the mature and helpful reply. Already started looking for new things. Found a few good potential areas. If you're in the area, hit me up. Anyways, yeah.....google earth has been a help, but driving around randomly seems to turn up the best stuff.

If you are into abandoned mines, I have been to the abandoned Mohawk Mine which is about 35 minutes outside of Vegas off of I-15 just this side of California. The Mohawk Mine is marked on topographic maps and is located in the Mohawk Hills It has easy access (2WD friendly), has many levels, has many portals, and is pretty easy to explore.

Thanks for the reply! I may have to check it out if I can get more people to go. I generally don't do any exploration on my own. Pretty much UE 101, don't go alone if you can help it. Thanks!
