| | | hiya. I've seen photos of broken/overgrown/washed-out pavement and discovered that the photos were of disused sections of highway 1, but have not been successful in locating any of them (just not sure what to google for). Anyone have any idea where the best of these locations might be?

| | | Google Earth, and just run along the route. I don't know of any old/abandoned sections, but the area around Devil's Slide is being reworked to tunnel through the hill. The existing section I believe will be completely torn out though.

| | | I'm not aware of the closed off or abandoned portion of highway 1 but this is just off highway 1 south of Pacifica and has some pretty cool stuff. I don't know if I can get in or if its even possible but It looks kinda interesting, if just for exterior shots and exploring.
There are also some other military structures. \/ (they look easily accessable).
There is also a VERY dangerous looking storm drain (not recommended for the sane) just north of here. You can find them all on Google earth. If anyone has any more info on these sites please let me know. - d

I've seen that! I've always wanted to check it out but there doesn't seem to be any safe spots (that were close) to park.

Yeah I noticed that as well and its not like Google earth will show you the most current state. The last time I was there the pull-off area's were being used by the construction co. to store vehicles for the giant tunnel project (sure would like to get in there!)It might be time for a drive up the coast to check on the status of this area. If I get any info I'll let you know. - d
