Quick Introduction From MS

Now that I have permissions to post on the forums I just wanted to take a moment to offer up a quick hello on a regional forum.

I'm a 28yr old guy, originally from England, but now living in central Mississippi. I've been here for 3 years now, and have been itching to find some sites to visit.

I haven't done much at all in the way of UE, but even as a little kid I remember the allure of getting into old garages and houses around where I lived, and progressed underground with some caving and SRT exploring as I got older.

Living in a fairly poor and run down part of a poor and run down state, there are a good number of old factories, plants, schools and the like to explore. However, as my presence in the US isn't secure until I am granted citizenship, I've been very wary of any kind of trespass. Would be a shame to get arrested and possibly put into deportation proceedings.

So for now I'll say hello, and keep longingly admiring pictures that others post from places across the South East.

Thanks,
RaTBoX

If you don't mind, where in England? I spent some time in Leeds, though not nearly as much as I'd've liked to.

As well, maybe take up running 5k a day. Once you're pretty confident, you can explore all you like and then just up and run if any shit goes down. Pretty much my fall back plan.

Hi there, thanks for the reply.

About 75 miles north of Leeds in Newcastle Upon Tyne. As for the running, I suppose it would be possible, although I don't know where I'd run to.

At the moment I've been scoping out an old metal smelting plant about 10 minutes drive from the house. I'm not sure when it closed down, but it's on a back road that doesn't see much traffic. The place looks in bad shape from the outside, but have no idea what the interior is like. I've done a drive past the entrance, and the gates are pretty beat up but there is a shiny padlock and chain on it.

Maybe I'll get up the courage one day soon, heh.

What brought you to Leeds?

Well, if the running doesn't suit you, you could just bring a slower friend along.

Education. I was at Leeds Uni for history. I never got around to seeing Newcastle, though I had a friend from up there. That time over in England was definitely the highlight of my life though, loved it.

As for your smelting plant, I'd say if you do enough recon on the site then go for it. I'm sure eventually someone from Mississippi will notice this and comment, but even if they don't, a steady dose of recon on the area will ensure you know exactly what security is present and when. From there, it's just carefully making your way inside and then enjoying the sights. Try finding another explorer in the area to go with.
