|  | | | Hi folks, as my first picture thread, I thought I would show you some shots from the Westside of the Klau/Buena Vista mine. From what I could see, there was the remnants of a site used to erect utility poles in the area. Also, a few odd steam shovel buckets and an old "Commanche" Chey from the 50's. The car and the buckets were on top of a rather precarious road cut, indicating that they were left there by the crew, I guess, and tractored around after. I took these with My Samsung Alias cell phone, so I know they are not the best pics in the world.

| | | | This is the Westside of the famed Klau mine on the outskirts of Paso Robles, Ca. During the WW2 years, most if it's output went to the war effort. I remember one news station locally saying that the mine was, more or less, commandeered by the government for it's cinnabar. Naturally, when it came time to clean up Uncle Sam bailed out and it was left to pollute the water tables and Lake Nacimiento. The pond at the very top is also out of place, when I was there a few different animals were using it as a watering hole though.
The actual mine is onthe other side of the road. It's been covered here a few times before, so i thought i would show everybody the boring west side.
