And so I ask again..

It's been a while.. Been a while since I've posted and been a while since I've found a good spot for exploration.

I'm looking for any spots between San Miguel and Santa Maria. Anybody got any? The insane asylum/juvenile mental ward in San Luis Obispo is an all right location, but I'm looking for someone who knows more about this area.

I've heard of an abandoned power plant by the gas station a bit North of Paso. Not sure if it's still there or not, but would love to scout with someone.

I feel like I'm posting an ad for an online dating site.. "LOVES ABANDONED HOSPITALS. BLOOD OK." Hahahaha.. I kid, I kid. But seriously, if anyone's interested in some central coast exploring, hit me up.

I hear you may be able to get permission into Camp Roberts, but you need to request it far ahead of time (I tried it once on a whim, and the soldier at the gate told me to leave immediately - even though he said I can make a request from public affairs).

I don't condone it, but Roberts could probably easily be explored w/out permission. Be aware parts of it are active and could carry federal charges.

Other than that try Rinconada (thank BryGuy for that one!)

Here's an easy peasy infil: The diatomite mine near Santa Maria. Here it is.

It's pretty trashed, but fun to shoot.

As always, I'm only giving you the stuff that isn't at risk of being ruined by taggers, vandals, or general pricks. None of them is safe other than the diatomite mine, however, so proceed with caution.

Wow, I think this is the first time I've logged in this year! Camp Roberts would be a good, legit explore. I took my sons's Tiger cub den to the museum that they have on base just last week. The head curator is super cool and kept the place open for us on very short notice. If you drive there, be sure to have a valid drivers licence, current registration and proof of insurance. We had to carpool from the entrance when one of our group had an expired proof of insurance. Once on base, there are a couple of hiking/running trails that range from 2.5 to about 7 miles in length. The one bummer rule that they have is that you can't just drive around the base snapping pics at random, I think it's a post 9/11 thing. They have some great old barraks and outbuildings that are being tore down, if you go with the guise of wanting to use the trails you will probably be okay to check out some other stuff as well. BTW the museum is EPIC! They have a bunch of stuff from when Roberts used to be the Depot and basic training for WW2. Here is the link for the museum: http://www.militar...obertsMuseum3.html

When I get a chance I will PM you some other cool local spots. I've been crazy busy lately, so I have not had much of a chance to explore. Good luck in your finds.

@Warped - HAHAHAHAHA. You would. We need to explore again sometime.

Hmmmm.. those mines look cool. I am quite interested. How exactly do you get there? Maybe we can go to the site together?
