|  | | | I got the chance to visit South Korea a few years ago and I was lucky enough to stumble onto Okpo Land, an abandoned fun park on top of a mountain on the island of Geoje. I'll post a few of my favourite shots and stick the rest in a gallery.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't scared when I climbed that rust bucket, but it was definitely worth it.

Still, looks sturdier than the roller coaster.
Did you get any more pictures of the merry-go-round? That one's been smashed up by vandals pretty badly over the years.

The roller coaster was pretty solid when I was there in '08, but it was a really narrow walk over a 30' drop in places.

Oh damn, that's really disappointing to hear. I loved the fact that there was so little graffiti and damage when I was there even though it'd been abandoned for nearly 10 years. Goddamn vandals. 
I did have more photos but I lost them in a computer rebuild.

I'm less and less sure about that. It's all based on rumours put together in a way that made sense. The only reason people say a little girl died on the duck ride is because of the one hanging precariously off the track, where I posed my ex-wife lying underneath. But I've seen earlier pictures where it's not hanging off the track like that.
I'd been told the park had one death, and while the owner was trying not to pay out anything, a six-year-old girl died, and rather than pay up, he closed up. But there is literally no source for any of this online, and we cobbled it together between friends and webpages that no longer exist, and somehow it became the official story.
Anyway, it is a cool park, regardless. Wish I'd made it back there this summer.
