|  | | | Was wondering if anyone knew if the mental hospital in Napa was still around and what the security [ if any ] is like.
I was hoping to go visit it next week.

| | | | Its still there. I haven't been for a couple of years so I dont know about the current security situation. I do know it is still mostly active and the only cool unoccupied buildings are directly across from the sites security center. It wouldn't hurt to ask to get some pictures. The interesting and unoccupied buildings were boarded up tight when I was last there. We took outside pictures and were never hassled,but the place gives off a really bad vibe for some people, this might be related to the past abuses at the facility. Infiltration is pretty much impossible as the facility is well maintained and they have an actual police Dept. for it. Things could have changed form when I was there last.Its worth a look, if for no other reason the history and architecture behind it.

If it is, then yeah, what Decrepitude said. This photo was from Sept 2007 and it was boarded up pretty tight, with security in plain view of any spot you would think to try to get in through.
The air that was moving out of the tiny windows of the basement smelled pretty musty and just not good, which would probably make me seriously consider a respirator if I dared venture inside.

Hey, I took a hike out to this one - in combo with a pipe factory recon (never did go on in). I think by the time I tried, it was professionally boarded up. Guess i'll give OT another crack.
