Reward Mine

After checking out the Whiteside Mine, we drove south to the Reward Mine. I had thought the main tunnel was going to be a lot longer than it was. It was long enough, but I was just expecting more based on what I had read about it. There seems to be five or six levels above the main tunnel. We didn't access any of these due to not having the right equipment. Hope to get back up there again soon and explore the upper levels. Does anybody know if there are any other entrances to this mine besides the main tunnel?

The large tunnels aren't very extensive. The upper part of the mine on the other hand is very extensive. We've spent about 20 hours in there so far and I'm pretty sure we've now covered the whole thing.

Those first few raises in the video are dead ends. One incline access past the false floor leads up to the first level which is also accessed by the ladderway behind the cinder block walls. The area below the false floor can be access by simply walking further down the large tunnels. It all interconnects and is quite amazing.

It's an awesome mine but caution is required.

Yeah, I figured that the upper levels above the main walk-in tunnel were where the really extensive stuff is. Gotta get back there and check it all out. Glad to hear that you've safely seen most of it!

It's well worth the time. There's some great rock-hound areas on the top level too.
