Inside the Mercantile

Train Station (I think)

Place was boarded up super good with fence and barb wire surrounding the whole place very well. I did find a rip high in the fence but it was 110 degrees outside and I didn't have any gear to get inside.

Strange rock in front of shack.

I luv the train station. Awesome looking building! I'd really like to get out there sometime, but I don't travel that much. If you have any more of the train station, please post. And if you can PM me the coordinates, I'd love to take a look at it in Google Earth.

ooh, I remember visiting rhyolite. did you visit the museum with the old man who will just stand there and tell you the whole history of the town in ten minutes? yeah that guy is awesome. I didn't wear any fringe skirts or chucks when I visited but I still had a good time.

Yea, that guy was pretty cool. He showed up about halfway through our exploring of the area, a few other weird people ended up hanging out in the horrible little visitor shack. They where all drinking coffee in 100+ degree weather. Wtf. That whole area is great. I want to go exploring the mines a little more. My chuck wearing friend wasn't a huge fan of mines.

I think that bank was featured in the film Six String Samurai. Where Buddy Holly fights Commies and heavy metal music with his guitar and sword in a post-apocalyptic race to be the next King of Rock and Roll in Lost Vegas after Elvis dies.

Does anyone else look at these pics, and fantasize about living here "off the grid" for a short while just to try it out?!

Interesting place. Did you meet J and the crew at the Last Supper while you were there?

If you didn't, you probably have no idea what I'm talking about.

Cheers,

Sweet pics! That area is pretty amazing. I really want to explore some more of those mines, my partner wasn't up for it at the time.
