|  | | | Hey Im new to this forum having discovered the rewarding hobby of urban exploration while living in Berlin last year. So much to see in this city but I can imagine that the buildings i visited there have already been profiled many times. So here are some pictures of Fort Ballance in my native Wellington where I currently reside.
This defence complex was built in 1885 when tension between Britain and Russia seemed likely to cause conflict. As the capital of Britains furthest colony the threat of attack existed, although never eventuated. The structure remained operational during WWI&II until decommissioned in 1956 when advancements in military technology rendered it obsolete. In the last few years it has become a popular site for the local street art community and is covered with interesting pieces. Beautiful beachside location makes it an interesting summer mission.
