The death of british engineering

This was small site, used for production of piano parts and parts for the automotive industry. Production stopped here in the 1980's after following the trend that swept the UK, a wholesale lack of modernization. This lack of modernization signaled the death knell of many a engineering company in the UK.

Lovin' the mixture of the made and natural environments. Great shots. Did the Brits choose not to innovate or was it just easier to get Chinese parts? Serious question.

You betcha

Yeah, pretty much the same reasons that North American industry is taking such a hard ass-fucking right now too. In addition, the UK thought it would be funny to raise the cost of doing business here 25% by burying small companies in red tape and larger companies in endless H&S bullshit.

(Don't get me wrong, H&S has a big place in industry; but right now it's reached 'cult religion' status and industry is hurtin'!)

Chris...

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.

Did you fill in a risk assessment form before making this post, Dave? Also, under new regulations, your name has been changed to 'calculated risk dave'.
