| | | This a very sad location for me personally. I knew the last tenants who lived here. Megan was an old lady who used to babysit me and my brother and sister. She always used to bring us sweets! Her husband had an aviary with loads of budgies and a parrot called Alex. Since they both died the cottage has been empty. It's owned by one of the big landowners on Anglesey and they have done nothing with it. Recently the windows appear to have been knocked out and some tidying has been done. I have a feeling they are preparing to knock the place down and build some modern monstrosity in it's place.

| | | Did it feel weird going back? It's sad that it is in such disrepair now, likely destined for the "pile". I went back to my grandmother's home years ago - long after she passed. The house had been owned by another family and then sold and was on the market again. I decided to go in and see. Even though it had nothing to do with me, I felt so disrespected and disappointed by the condition of the house after the last owners left it. Going back to places close to us can be a pretty big bummer. In any case, thanks for sharing your story and those photos. [last edit 6/23/2010 4:18 PM by consecrated - edited 1 times]

You never know, squire Anglesey could have let someone have it for a peppercorn rent provided they do it up (i.e. renovate) the cottage. This has happened to an unmodernized seventeenth century cottage down the road from me. If its structurally sound they may keep the edifice. However, if its in a desirable spot it may get levelled like you say. [last edit 6/23/2010 5:18 PM by GC Intercept - edited 1 times]

I did feel weird. I couldn't really remember the place though-- only the people. It's terribly sad isn't it... especially if you have good memories of a place.
