MARS was a group of young guys that explored old military sites in the SF Bay area during the late 1980s.
Unlike Jones & his fellow "HESH" punks, the MARS guys were knowledgeable about military history, but unfortunately, like Jones & "HESH," they were immature punks that enjoyed defacing history sites with their moronic graffiti.

Because they were immature punks whose need to promote themselves for posterity took precedent over their respectable knowledge of military history. For that reason, I slam them every chance I get.
This is an example (albeit unsigned, it was clearly them) that really caused them to damage my psyche. They did this (accurate representation of a Nike missile) directly atop an extremely historic & important legitimate piece of art that we're pretty sure dates back to the 1940s. They had every reason to be well aware of the historic value of this Oozlefinch, and every opportunity to at least do the Nike drawing off to the side of the image, assuming they couldn't restrain themselves from doing it in the first place:

P.S. You might find some Oozlefinch stuff at old US Army coast defense/air defense sites in ROK. It was the mascot of US Army Coast defense artillery units starting in the early 1900s & continued to be the mascot of the Army Air Defense units starting in the late 1940s & continuing today.
