Mythbusters' abandoned suburb

We're watching a Mythbusters episode where they determine whether a calm driver uses more fuel than an aggressive driver. Their closed test course is an abandoned neighbourhood... We're interested in this place's story. Can anyone tell me a little bit about it?

No idea where it is, but I remember reading about it here... so do a search of the forum and groups, I am positive that the exact location has been mentioned here.

Good luck

Never seen it but it is quite possible since this is near Seaside and there are a bunch of abandoned houses there.

it was indeed one of several abandoned family housing areas of Fort Ord/DoD's 'Monterey Military Community.'

When ever they are on the runway, they are @ Alameda. They also use Hunters Point a lot.

The question is not when are we gonna stop, It's who's gonna stop us?

Yes 4 sure. Also the one where the car looks like a golf ball, I think was filmed @ Concord Navel. A weapon storage/transport facility here in the bay.

That place looks very cool on the map, the zoom feature is sharp and close. Drop a bike over the gate and check it out, unless owned by the military, then maybe not worth the risk. (The massive title wouldn't load, so photo instead)

(Not the same place, but sort of in the area)

It would be Ft. Ord.

Its the abandoned housing units on the NW end of the post, just north of Imjin Parkway (formerly 12th St), between the city of Marina and CSUMB. As far as I know, the public can still access it, but by foot or bike only because the roads have been sealed off.

Here is a satellite image of the area in question:

Public can access it, but they're all gone and new housing/development have replaced them.

Going where others can't...
