|  | | | On the north end of Ft Ruger there is a site not commonly known. Although you've seen it on Hawaii Five-O or more recently on Lost (Sayid's Military Scenes); it's been in many movies. Ft Ruger is better known as Diamond Head. Most of the hardware has been removed but the same mortar battery design can be seen in Corregidor Island, Philippines, where the mortars were left in place with bullet indents from aircraft strafing. Not open to the public. You must UE.

8. Mechanical elevation and azimuth indicators for mortar crews. Operated by cables and pulleys from the forward observer.

There are also Nike control bunkers on the north shore near behind Dillingham. The beach there is where "Lost" was filmed.

Same thing happened to me. I lived a mile away from a Nike Missile battery in Brea, CA. I visited Ft McArthur before it became a museum and then after it was a museum and didn't know of another mortar battery north about 1/4 of a mile on the north side of McArthur.
