Niles Canyon Exploring

Hey guys, got another one for you. A joint venture with myself and Seraph again. Not a whole lot of pictures, unfortunately, which is my fault cause I was too lazy to keep digging my iPhone out of my pack. Took about 5 miles of walking the rails from where we started to get to this place which was kinda fun. Although, honestly, you don't need to walk the rails as there is a much easier way to reach this. Anyhoo, here's the pics. Lemme know what you think.

Nice, thanks for sharing. I haven't been out there in years. I've been itching to go back for sometime now.

We were here...and it was glorious.

NP,I know the pics aren't too exciting. There's some great stuff at the other end of that tunnel but we weren't too keen on trekking trough it as we'd had encounters with three different trains on the walk out there. If you're ever up for going, hit me up as Seraph and I would be down to head out there again.

At the other end of the tunnel or at the second, shorter tunnel? There's a bunch at the short tunnel but my battery died so I didn't get any photos. I do remember there being some graffiti on the secret sidewalk on the other side though. Is that what you're talking about? It's been a while since I was on the other side so the details are a bit fuzzy

The 1st pic is an overall of the area. It shows where the secret sidewalk is at the longest tunnel in relationship to the graff. The 2nd shows a skull where I think you were at. I could be wrong. These pix are a few years old. But it should be the same, just different.

Bonnie&Clyde: Yeah we were past to the south of that skull at the entrance to the big tunnel. The graffiti down there is really not bad. I know people always hate it in general but alot of that has talent in it unlike most tagging you see. I was impressed. BTW, why the skull?

DrRJones: Hayward huh? That's pretty close, I'm over in Pleasanton. I'd be down for a meet up. Which area of the sidewalk did you get into, the part that goes over the gully or the one that goes back into the hills near the road? The day I was over there I had thought about dropping through one of the holes but I was tired and pansied out . I really wanted to try and get in the other side but where they broke it all apart they had those big steel bars there and we didn't have anough time to go further and see if it had better access. I always thought it would be interesting would be to get into it where Bonnie has the skull on the map cause nearby is a pump station that would get you access to it. That's be one long walk underground...sounds fun.

Oh and whats the deal with the farmer? I'd heard about some guy on an ATV with a rifle just driving around and shooting but I don't know the details. Anyone ever see the VN vets camping out around there?

Hey me too. Seen any of the local drains? I've practically mapped out the whole Tri-Valley area, as far as accessible and worthwhile drains, but i can't always convince friends to go explore them with me. Oh and I'd be interested in a local meetup for Niles too!

No, I've never done any draining yet. I've seen one or two that looked interesting but never really checked them out.

As far as this Niles thing, we oughta get a group together and check the whole area out. Any admins game? I'd like to get to know some of you folks on here since everyone seems pretty chill.

Yeah sounds swell. Just gotta watch the weather, since we all know that rain makes anything involving Niles Canyon extra exciting

Finally got this uploaded after editing. Sorry, I sound like such an idiot, the adrenaline and all makes me not think ;) so please be gentle. Other than that, just a little coolness that we got to see when we were thinking about going in the tunnel (hence the comments later in the vid lol).
