New Years Day Exploring
< on 1/13/2010 6:08 AM >

Hey folks, this is my first post on here. I've been on the forums for a little while but havent had anything very relevant to "prove" myself yet haha.

http://www.flickr....72157623200250822/

Anyhow, above are some exploits I had with a friend of mine on New Years Day. Sorry for some of the blurry pictures but the area they were taken in was underground and completely pitch black and the settings on the camera weren't being too forgiving. Most of all this was taken in the Sausalito/Marin area (which I'm sure most of you have already been to) but I thought it could be interesting nonetheless. Please let me know what you think or if this is the wrong area to post "non-public" places like some of the things seen here. Comments are appreciated. Thanks for looking and hope to get to know everyone here better!

Hey welcome to UER. Does your name have anything to do with the F-86 Sabre?

Thanks big dave. Nice catch on that one, by the way. It actually does. Was my favorite aircraft (other than the P-51D Mustang) when I was a kid and so when the internet was becoming big, I had gone to an airshow with my dad and got to help him stage an 86 and MiG-15 since he was working it and I made it my first screen name online and it's stuck ever since. Gorgeous aircraft though. I dunno what it is about the look of those old fighters with the intake right at the front of the aircraft, it just looks great.

I'm a train guy, so I could be way off, but I think they have one of these at our local childrens park in Los Gatos. Used to play on it when I was young. ... Well until the miniture train sounded its whistle, then I was off begging my dad to buy me tickets to ride. Sorry.

Shadow: Thanks for the wiki link shadow. It didn't even occur to me to post a picture lol.

Railguy: What's the name of the park? And it's totally cool about trains, cause I love that stuff too. When I get time I'll get up pics of a trip Seraph9898 and I went on down in Niles Canyon along the tracks to check out the mile long tunnel they got down there. Video too lol.

Oh cool! That's a Lockheed P-80 Shooting Star. It was the first jet fighter used by the USAF. I'll have to make a trip down there on my next excursion to check that out. And there's a train! Bonus! Haha.

Im a sucker for the Skyraider and A10. I guess im a slow, low, and accurate kind of guy. Sort of like my exploring style.

The Sabre played an important roll in US air dominance in Korea with a reported kill:loss ratio of 10:1 against Mig-15's. Gotta love the F-86.

F-18 Hornet, Loved that since Top Gun.......

Yeah, I do agree with the Skyraider and A10. The A10 may be slow and not have an afterburner but it's quiet.....at least until the hammer is dropped on that Avenger cannon its got in the nose. Mmmm, depleted uranium goodness. And the Skyraider was great cause it could get shot to hell and keep going. Kinda sad that the military phased out those radials, they were tough little buggers.

We all have to thank the really poorly trained Korean pilots for some easy kills haha. Although I've read about the occasional encounters with MiG's piloted by Soviets. Apparently they were quite a handful and were trained very well.

Despite being underpowered, I've always liked the way the F7-U Cutlass looked. The F-4 though, is a BADASS plane.

Oh yah, no lie on the A-10 and the Skyraider. CAS planes are awsome. Anything to support the grunts is great.

Since ya'll started talking about my favorite airplane, I gotta get a piece of the action.

Just about messed myself when I saw that thing up close.

And when the other one was doing maneuvers...OMGWTF WANT WANT WANT

I'm surprised the video came out as nice as it did.

Best plane ever, with out a doubt.
