He had no legal basis to do that, assuming it wasn't posted no-trespassing.

In Colorado it doesn't have to be posted "no trespassing". It's still trespassing.

I would have comitted am even bigger crime to distract the cop from asking you fo ID for trespassing. Plus Mrs. Marni was in the passenger seat of that squad, she talks like a cops partner, and if that doesn't make her a cop, I don't know what does.

today a buddy and i were caught in this small alcove that was fenced off (we were outside of the fence) that led to the basement of a parking garage at and abandoned hospital/psych ward, the cop took our info and looked at our id's and all that. if we were not breaking the law then why did he do that?

A cop can ask you for your ID, but you don't necessarily have to give it to him. People make this mistake a lot. Police, like anyone else, can initiate a conversation with anyone they want. Anyone could have asked you for you id.

Like they would answer "yes" if they were!

Did you know a cop doesn't have to answer "yes" if you ask if they are a cop? Just ask all the poor John's getting busted by cop-hookers.

According to Colorado State Law, landowner permission is required prior to entering or crossing private property, except while traveling on public roadways. Two sections of the Colorado Revised Statutes (CRS) apply to trespassing:

Wow. I didn't realized Colorado sucked like that. My bad, you're just boned.

But I asked three times!

There's a (cool) cop or two on here, and an informant, but we've never had problems with people being shanked for exploring, so don't worry your sweet head.

Talks like a cops partner? Why is that because I am well spoken and I have a pretty good knowledge of the legal system a. Because I don't want to get busted and b. Because my uncle was a sherif and it was the only way to get away with stuff when I was in hs. Lol to be honest it is rather amusing that you guys think I am an oinker.

There are varying degrees of evil. We urge you lesser forms of filth not to push the bounds and cross over into true corruption, into our domain.

Mr. Brown is an explorer posing as a cop. At the bar he was confused for a drug dog and a bouncer on numerous occasions. I usually stand by the door when I have him and these 3 college girls walk into this metal bar where we hang out and show me their ID's. I said "Don't show me, show him." Two of them laughed and the 3rd bent down and showed the dog. Does that count?

The fact that you are well spoken means nothing to me, lots of spelling errors and grammatical errors gets my OCD boiling. Which wouldn't be a problem for anyone on a computer or laptop. So I guess my only question is are you using your personal phone or department issued phone to play these games on the internet while riding shotgun in that squad car? I guess it makes no difference that would be easy enough to find out.

Cop.

Well, here's one way to find out. Someone should go exploring with her. With that said, I'm not worried, because even if she were, which I doubt, I'm out of the jurisdiction of anyone in Colorado who doesn't work for the federal government, and the Feds aren't going to worry about trespassers, unless you do something stupid like try to explore active military bases, nuclear power plants, etc.
