I have a suggestion for the UE Database

Sorry, I had no idea where else to put this topic. I tried to put it in another section, but I wasn't allowed.

I think it would be a great idea if the locations in the database were also broken into areas.

For example:

Location DB > United States > California > Southern California > Los Angeles > 7th Street Bridge

You see what I did there? I think adding areas like that would really be a big plus for the database.

Maybe even like this:

Location DB > United States > California > Southern California > Orange County > Buena Park > Nabisco Cookie Factory

This could also work as well. Please let me know what you guys think...

I was just thinking about this. Locations need to be divided into counties. There a billion little cities in LA county and I dont know half Of them though I live here. Makes location hunting frustrating.

It would be better to add a good tagging system, but no one wants to talk about tagging when it comes to UE.

I think it just makes it easier for people to be lazy, similar to everyone needing hotlinks in a post instead of copying and pasting a link to their browser.

I don't know. I think more clicking when viewing/searching the DB is annoying. Trying to look at all the locations in Canada - for example - okay, area, province, town, and then there's like, one location. View, then drill back up, even with the frame...repeat.

It's annoying. I like how we just have Cali and a giant list. I wish what we could see, honestly, was just on the main page, have an option to list all the locations under each city. Instead of guessing "where the hell was that place...what city did someone put it in."

I'm just gonna say that there are sometimes like hundreds of items in a Province/State category and breaking it up into North / South would make it a bit simpler

I also kinda like the Idea of clicking on the Picture of a map and it goes to a bigger version of that picture (zoomed in) and Just repeating that so I can see the locations by a Map Menu that is easily accessible

But also the option to use a word based menu like we have now

Lets not forget Av is the Final word here and has to do the programming to get it done. I Don't know how Av has it set up but it might be Directory based Files and this might cause him to have to rename a bunch of stuff, or it could mean having to re-enter every location again (*that's a lot*). It could just be a new menu and some location based sorting (lol if said item on map is north of said line then put flag a on it) but It will be Av doing said work

See, the way I look at it is this:

I live in So Cal, in Orange County. I know certain areas and some I don't. When I go to the DB, and I see an area in California, and it sounds incredible, but then when I go to Google and find out the location is in Central California, for example, it's just kind of... Blah.

good
but I still want to make the text based version one more easier to go through

a sort using gps coordinates as the category a / category b would make this simple to do

I was wondering why that wasn't already on the site. Actually been looking for it for some time now. Great to have the URL, thanks. Still, now I know that it exists, I still can't find it in the menu?! Am I a blind, stupid n00b, or isn't it to be found in the menu?

Oh, such a bad question to ask on an exploring website...

Hmmmm... interesting. I just put a location online minutes before reading this posts and looking at the Gmap. And my not yet approved location, added just now, is already put on the map! Thank the heavens for computers!

Should this be in the "Contact a Mod" forum or "UE Main" forum?? Not sure if asking the community would help much...

It's not like I made it, lol. I just collect useful things I find on the site, because not all the cool resources can be found without someone handing you the URL.
