Moulin Rouge Vegas

Took some time last December to explore the abandoned Moulin Rouge hotel in Vegas. It was a big deal historically as it was the first integrated casino. It was pretty much abandoned and empty for 20 some odd years untill it was turned in to a low rent motel for people with no where else to go. Arson burned it once, and arson finished it off in May of 2009. Too bad, it was cool to explore.

Although the main building was completely abandoned, there was evidence of people squatting there. What was real interesting the Desert Breeze apartments on the property, although condemned and no services were completely occupied. There were curtains in the windows, laundry, cook stoves. It was a regular homeless joe apartment complex. I think there was even a port a potty. Out of respect for the residents we stayed pretty far away and didnt take any pictures there.

We also found TONS of legal paperwork, including photo copies of drivers licenses and Social Security cards. Got to love how this stuff is taken care of.

Ive done that place countless times. The property was huge. I take it you must have found the closet full of the "goodies"

I hope you wore a mask, Asbestos is heavy in there!

That place plus the apts in the back was prolly the best location for UE in Vegas, I haven't gone by since the fire.

Nahh - no mask. Honestly didnt cross my mind. O well. I tried to get into the Key Largo Casino, even tried to bribe a guard, but no dice. The hotel at the corner of Trop and Dean Martin is guarded by Meth Heads and dogs. Besides the tunnels, I couldnt find much going on in Vegas.

If you are up for the drive, the the 93 up to Coyote Springs. Not abandoned, but defiantly surreal.

Yeah December of last year Syn and I hit that place. It was a neat place but in shambles for sure. Would have been cool to see it before the demo/fire. Here's my set if youre interested.

There wasnt much to see in the Largo. My old roomate worked security there once so for 3 nights I explored it top to bottom. Their renovating it now I believe.

Ill have to look into the coyote springs ...
