| | | The B-1 pissed off a lot of people when leaving today. Something about broken windows, scared pussies, lots of whiners, etc etc blah blah blah. Sounds like El Toro all over again.

| | | from what I understand, that particular plane had an unfortunate incident (it crashed) somewhere nearby. it's been being rebuilt in a boeing hanger for the last few years. surprised it took this long though, they were working on it 4 years ago...

| | | Not sure which Lancer it was that performed at the air show at Travis AFB in the late '90s, but whatever it was literally blew me off my feet. Those things are huge, noisy as hell, and slick little suckers. Would love to have seen one in action again.

| | | They had to acquire the parts from other boneyards. Just like when a Warthog goes down Or used to. They have a program to repair A-10s now. Without boneyards

| | | Off topic I know, but did anyone get pictures of the B-17 and B-24 that were there doing nostalgia flights a few weeks ago? I'd like to see those.

| | | At work today, I was speaking with a client of mine about my prospective move into the field of aeronautical maintenance. He's been in the field for 25 years and is looking for work. Somehow we got on the subject of the SR-71, which made me think of the B-1B, and I mentioned it. He said that to best of his knowledge, there was only one, permanently stationed at Wright-Patterson AFB, and that the only other one we had (?) had crashed. Anybody know anything of this? I'm certain you'll have something to put in on this Hoolie...

| | | Hell yah, from South Dakota*sorry home state pride*. But yeah, The B-1s are still vary active. They do there usual bread and butter of low altitude high speed bombing runs. But recently in the War on Terror. The B-1 and B-52 have been out fitted to basically fly a figure 8 pattern over a active area. Then forces call for a ordinance on target and the crew is more than happy to send ordinance down range. Its sick to watch in action.

| | | Funny side note. At low altitude. The B-1 will walk away form a plane like the F-16. The powerplants are especially tuned for it because the original use for the B-1 was to be high speed penetrators for the Cold War against Russia. Fly over the north pole, at high speed, under russian radar. Bomb the living dog snot out of the reds and fly out.

| | | Yeah, I figured as much. This gentleman is sort of...um...well, old to put it best. I'm thinking he confused the B-1 with something else (SR-71 maybe? Ionno, he's elderly), but thanks for the input. I always forget about Wikipedia in my times of greatest need
