| | | Nike installation SF-93 in San Rafael, California was one of many sites ringing the San Francisco area to keep a sharp eye out for hostiles arriving by air. A news article from 2008 indicated that the old missile storage areas would be filled in. Naturally this required a relatively urgent trip to the crime scene with a couple comrades. http://www.marinij.com/ci_8609303 You'll see a couple pics where I was obviously hanging out the vehicle's window, but most were actually taken on foot. This pic is the old Administration area, now a substance abuse treatment center and/or halfway house.
These pics are of the launch area referred to in the above article. As you can see there are huge dirt mounds so fairly soon the areas will be filled in. No idea if the elevator doors will still be visible or not.
Finally, these pics are from the control area which is a couple miles away from the launch area and was visited a couple weeks after the launch site. Access to this site isn't nearly as easy as the other two.

Tourism, human circulation considered as consumption is fundamentally nothing more than the leisure of going to see what has become banal. |
