| | Disneyland - Abandoned Skyway to Fantasyland Station < on 3/31/2009 3:00 AM >
| | | After the weird drama that took place a few days ago, I have decided that it's ridiculous to have drama on a forum that's about exploring. I have decided to put petty differences aside. Dave - whatever you have against me or whatever I've done to make you dislike me, we don't have to see eye to eye. I respect you as a fellow explorer and that's that and I'll leave it alone. Remarks I made were just a reaction to your comments to me. Regardless, sorry to the forum for the drama that ensued. All I'm going to do going forward is post photos of explorations and that's that. That's what we're all here for after all. That being said, after numerous visits to Disneyland, I always noticed that the Skyway to Fantasyland is abandoned. This loading area used to be a place where the Sky Buckets landed coming from Tomorrowland. The ride was dismantled in the early 90's and has been closed ever since. The doorway leading into the landing platform was sealed shut as well. I had been dying to get in for the longest time but the many times I went to investigate, I have been yelled at either by employees or park security so I left it alone. One night last October I did my usual inspection of the Skyway station and the DOOR WAS OPEN. I finally found out what was in that damn station after all this time. The pics are TOTAL ASS because I was scared shitless in that room. Why was I scared? Disneyland has this policy that if they catch you backstage or in unauthorized areas they will boot you out PLUS revoke your pass. So I was nervous not only about the flash but about being in that off limits area in general. So I took a bunch of half assed pics and got the hell out before I could get my annual pass revoked. Anyhow, on to the photos... Here's how the abandoned Skyway station looks in the daytime (not my photo). If you try to climb the stairs up to the station, security or staff will tell you to get down and threaten to remove you from the park. I know because I've climbed those stairs many times only to have security or park staff chase or yell at me and threaten to kick me out. Even if you do make it to the top, those two doors are always locked. I've checked the doors about 20 times over the last year (usually at night) and they're always locked.
Except for ONE NIGHT last year, the doors were UNLOCKED and I made it inside. Here's the view back towards the entrance.
Some high voltage stuff.
As you can see, it wasn't really all that exciting. It's just a few tables and some maintenance b.s. but I was happy to finally figure out what was in that Skyway station.

Yeah would love to make it to that basketball court room. I have friends of friends that work at Disneyland so maybe at some point they can get me in there. I doubt that though unless you're part of the Matterhorn or Tinkerbell crew that you'd stand a chance. Worth a try though.

Lucky...ha ha. The time I walked up there in summer/daytime I had 2 employees bolt across the Casey Jr Circus Train QUEUE saying, "HEY YOU !!! YOU CANT BE UP THERE." I said, "What? Why's that?" Then they said it was off limits and that they could kick me out of the park if they wanted to. I said (with sly grin), "Now why would you want to kick me out of the park for climbing some stairs?" They were cool about it afterward, but yeah some of the employees/staff can get pretty wicked with you. I guess it's like the "Disney Security" syndrome or something. Kudos to you for going up there during daytime and not getting yelled at.
