| | | There are people over here who have used flash on top of cranes in busy city centres. Fuck knows why because there isn't much to light up but there you go. It's hard to really understand how these people manage to make it to thier current age without accidently killing themselves.

| | | Posted by Naes Thanks for the advice guys. My original idea was to take my digital point and shoot as it'll be easier to upload them on my computer, but I can take my old 35mm and a tripod as MindHacker suggested. But that raises another question, since I don't have my own photo lab, and nor does any of my friends I'd have to process them at longs or safeway or a store like that. Can I get busted that way?
|
Just think about all the homemade porn, weird animal photos and such that go through the photo labs at your local camera store... They'll most likely have a laugh at you for taking photos of old buildings.
Now I've got that feeling once again, I can't explain, You would not understand, This is not how I am... I have become, Comfortably Numb... |

| | | I've used flash photography at night, had no problems. Not to say that I never will have trouble come my way, but I guess I'm just not paranoid enough. I'd say if you're paranoid; go during the day if possible like I tend to do. Or, if you live in areas like me where Police just don't really give a damn do it anyway and just show them you meant no trouble. Or run the risk. Also, I agree with PsYcHo-560. People get way weirder photos developed than that of old buildings.

| | | I also just try to go in the day, and now that I've hacked my canon point and shoot I just take long exposures and the tripod for night shots. I only use flash if I'm in a very isolated area with no security or fear of being seen.

| | | I try to avoid using flash unless I know it's incredible unlikely I'll be seen, or if it's something I really need to take. I've started to learn light painting to help with it though

| | | If I am in a basement with no windows or a seriously low risk location then I use the flash without caring if its a medium risk with the odd window I will check outside for people and look in all of the windows for watching peoples then use it once or twice but if, for instance, I am on the roof of an active prison/army base/art museum I am staying total stealth as thats wayyyy too many questions for me for one night (but to be honest I have used the flash in high abandonments at night [like bunge] but not very often)
I will defeat that which was once untouchable only so that I may now move on |

| | | I prefer not to use flash mostly from an aesthetic perspective. What you see at night and what you capture with a flash at night are two totally different scenes. But from the perspective of exploration would you walk around carrying a strobe light going off every few seconds? Remember there is a reason why they put them on emergency vehicles. It makes them easier to see. Also, in terms of local processing. Know you trespassing laws. I think the statute of limitations in my area is about 30 minutes. Odds are by the time you get them developed you would have already escaped the danger zone. Besides for all they know you could own the building or something. What do they care?
