Maybe for the really short guys lol

I don't understand either, but this place was really old so maybe it's just an old fashioned way of designing the bathrooms?

I kinda always assumed it was so that little kids and big people could all use them... rather than having that one midget urinal like we have nowadays.

That's a better guess than mine...you're probably right. Especially since this was in a school that has been used for young kids and adults alike.

Lots of great photos!

A lot of these are tilted just slightly to the right (left side is higher...) or just slightly to the left...

I tend to have a problem with this too... not sure if I'm crooked or my tripod is, but either way a little 0.5 degree rotation (CCW or CW, depending on the slant) in PS might clear that up. Or a new tripod. Or even length legs.

Also, my theory on the floor-length urinals was to minimize spray/splash back... since the stream hits a single wall rather than a bowl. Of course, I pulled that theory out of my ass years ago after using my first floor-length urinal.

Thank you...I actually just bought a new tripod yesterday so I'm hoping to remedy the crooked pix problem...unless of course it's just me that's crooked, not such an easy fix. lol

Good theory...it would likely minimize the nasty splash-back from a bowl.

For folks with bad aim. You can pretty much piss on the floor and get away with it.

Second comment: Is the light source in 26 artificial?

Those are load-bearing urinals. They need to extend all the way to the floor, to support the plumbing assembly above them. The plumbing, in turn, is obviously holding the wall from falling over, into the room next-door. One urinal may well have been sufficient to handle the volume of patrons, but would not have been sufficient to keep the wall vertical.

Good thought on the urinal debate lol

The light in 26 is artificial...it's from an exit sign just to the left...there was some other artificial light coming through the window on the door below the exit sign, but not much, no natural light at all as it was night and the moon wasn't really bright.

I figured it was, but for a min it looked like sunlight coming in from stained glass.
