Hello French People,

I've added a new feature to the site for those of you who speak French.
-av

Posted by Avatar-X
The "Translate to French" feature was added for English speakers, not for French speakers. It is not even intended for you.

What gets my goat is not that you don't like it, but that you managed to start a thread complaining about it before I could even announce it.

what about we don't care??

I fail to see the goal of this project and this thread other than stir shit.

This was never an issue here until a few hours ago.

I believe this thread should be locked as it serves no specific purpose other than create useless problems.

also Av, I had a question : why did you implement this if it works so poorly ?

I tried on several posts which had perfect french written in them, and the result was absolutely awful. Half of the words were not translated ( maybe a too small dictionnary ? ) and for the others, it meant absolutely nothing.

I think you should wait a bit before implementing this since it basically doesn't work at this point.

A probably better solution would be to make a Google App that would use google's own translation system here on uer.

For the users here it would work the same way ( they would click on the ' translate to english' link), but instead of beeing processed here on uer, it would be sent to google's translation and the result would be shown.

It would be very easy to if you have the smallest knowledge in Python programming.

I would be glad to help you with Python, if you need.

I've translated every French post I've seen on this thread using Google, and it came out identical every time. I think Av might be using a Google API for it's translator already

We all had ostriches. My dad had an ostrich farm! I remember one day someone came in and said the high altitude bombing of Kosovo had been a limited success, so we all went out and celebrated… by killing an ostrich and boiling it in kiwi fruit.
