when I went a few weeks ago, (the night i saw nel) we were alone, except for a few scared racoons. They were stuck inside the building and were trying to climb out through a window but couldn`t. They were making a lot of crying sounds

We had to climb inside, what a pain in the ass.

well we hung out a bit under the over hang thing and looked up at them trying to get out, but eventually they stopped making noise so we went in and then saw them again in the room right above where the fallen stairs are where you must climb the wall.

They make that sound..like if they were quarreling between brothers and sisters..

And at this time of year they are also at the stage to start being on their own..

in 2005 when I had the chance to be there everyday for the whole summer, also sleeping there few times and having our tents for a week,we could observe the 5 different families, from the moment the babies were new born till they got their autonomy...it was just fantastic ! We rescued one that had fell in the elevator shaft next to the spiral staircase.Nothing broken but he was stuck in a way he would have died, he had already given up the fight.
We made him a bed close to his home, gave him massages and fed him with cat dry food and water until he was strong enough to climb back to his family..

Gee I love the malt !

(as i write this, there are 3 racoons on my balcony ! Sweet !)

Insane..... just insane....

Talking about malt... about 1 month ago I think, I was sitting at the St-Ambroise terrace drinking my pint of beer and eating a hamburger. There was some kid painting with rollers a giant graffiti on the roof. The sun was going down and you could clearly see them. Everyone down at the terrace was pointing and looking at them, I even saw some man calling the cops on his cellphone. I'm really surprised they didn't get caught.... Kids now a days are fucken idiots.....

it was like that for more than 10 years. But it's been worse not long ago.

Cute story. Gee, that reminds me of myself. I used to rescue tons of animals when I was little. Since last summer, we've had two epidemics of racoon rabbies in the Eastern Townships. A few years ago, one of my friends got attacked by one for no reason -- maybe he was standing between a mother and its baby who knows -- and he has a nice long scar to prove it. Fortunately, the racoon didn't have rabbies.

what ever happens... just please be cool, quiet, and dont be seen at the abandoned buildings. you will find a lot of people around here are just tired of our local abandoned spots being ruined by youngsters who do dumb shit.

If you go to places like the malt plant, dont throw bricks, dont dance on the roof or yell at people and cars passing by, dont vandalise, and dont invite or go with people who do/will... because I love exploring and I hate when my favourite spots are being watched by cops making it risky to go in.
