|  | | | In order for the library to expand, the Franciscan Building will be torn down sometime this Fall.
I was lucky enough to get permission to enter this building and take a few shots before it is gone forever. I didn't get to take the time I had hoped for, and since i'm new at photography, my shots aren't the greatest, but at least it is something.
First, a little history....
The plans for the Franciscan building were finalized in October of 1960, and the building was completed in August of 1961. It housed the campus bookstore until the bookstore moved to its present location in the student center sometime before 1977, when the Franciscan building became home to the University Club. The University Club was a place where staff and Faculty could, for a monthly fee, relax, eat and socialize. Apparently the Christmas parties were something to remember! When the Library expansion project got underway, the University Club could not find another location on campus to move to, and subsequently disbanded around 2003-2005. The Franciscan building also housed the Biology department at one time, but I cannot be sure of the dates.

insainly_sound and I got permission to give the Franciscan building a second go. There was so much I missed in my first, rather rushed visit. Here are some highlights:
