From where we used to live in the ATL. Anyone currently there know if Walker Street was ruined? I saw the footage of CNN and the Dome (LOL @ that POS, who in their right mind build a freaking domed stadium for football in a city where the avg. temp is like 80 in October? Idiots). Anywho we lived like 1/4 mile from the Dome, wondering if I could see some footage.

You betcha

Pretty much any local news station is plastered with footage, as the storms are now the only news in the state...
WSBTV
Fox 5
11 Alive

And there are several Flickr sets popping up as the weekend rolls on.

I used to live in a loft on Walker street right by the dome myself.

Is this the magical loft that I have heard stories about?

I'm overly dramatic online AND I only explore for validation. I'm a double threat.

That's the one. Mandias and the bisexual amazon strippers, living in harmony with no walls.

256. The American Laundry Company, I think was the original structure. Since then, the loft space, which had been built into a burned out building, with the most burned out part used as our storage space (just try to keep the stuff out of the areas where there was no roof) has been redeveloped into... lofts... but the new fancy, shiny, clean kind as opposed to the kind where we just built stairs out of scrap wood and had the old charred and dusty brick walls.

Yeah, we were the idiot yuppies who moved into the "clean" version of a loft. I was @ GSU and my wife worked in that building attached to the Marriott by Sacred Heart @ the time and it was just convenient. Right across from you (I think) was a cool triangle-shaped building that was at one time a restaurant that I would have loved to go in but never got a chance. Do you remember that homeless dude who road a bike? He wore a big hat that looked like a Conquistador's headgear so being the bright guy I am, I called him "the Conquistador." The Olympic Park is trashed, too bad, that was fun for kids.

Yeah, I was there before the Olympics. It was a different place. You didn't really want to be outside on the street if you could avoid it back then. We had a giant 15 foot tall barbed wire fence keeping people out of where we parked, and some green areas inside our enclave that used to be inside the industrial building, but had just gone to nature without a roof, and served like our own little park inside.

Where there are now probably 20 lofts in that building, there were only 4 in the same space when we were there.

And yeah, I think that triangle building was almost directly across the street. I think there was a chop shop running out of there at the time.

Across from us was that other triangle building, the white one where what was Techwood became Walker and ??? I forget the other street. Plus, there was a little sky blue building that I think sold ice cream or was where ice cream trucks got their ice cream. I like it there a lot, great just walking around and checking shit out, my wife was scared sometimes. During rainshowers our sky-lights sounded like a machine gun, I'm sure if we were there on Saturday the roof would've come off. Our friends in Dunwoody could hear the tornadoes, I could only imagine what it was like downtown. We're coming back the first week of June but just to get some friends and head to Hilton Head. If I have time, I'll pm and maybe we can hook up.
