| | | | Shoot to Kill < on 12/13/2007 1:29 AM >
| | | I've recently wanted to explore an abandoned golf course on the outskirts of town, but some of my friends say that they shoot to kill on the site. This could be complete BS, but I really don't want to take a chance like that. Has anyone else heard the same about a site they went to? Any advice as to how I should get around this conundrum? It should also be mentioned that I've repeatedly tried to contact the owner, but to no avail.

| | | Yeah the golf courses have really cracked down since 9/11. Used to be, they'd just wing ya to slow ya down a bit but now they play for keeps. [last edit 12/13/2007 1:39 AM by Explorer Zero - edited 1 times]

Golf courses are Republican stomping grounds, so they must be protected at all costs.

| | | I'm pretty sure shooting to kill an unarmed man without at least fair warning would be illegal in every state, not to say some backwater hick may not shoot.. But most people have the sense to not shoot to kill at random, at worst I could see shoot to wing or shoot to alarm without warning..

Didn't UER FNG Mikey (aka golf coarse Mikey, aka 16 yo GA Mikey) get shot to death trespassing on the perimeter of a miniature golf coarse parking lot? Damn, he almost made it inside too. He posted the best parking lot pics we have ever seen here.

Not so. In many states a homeowner can use deadly force to defend themselves against any intruder armed or not. It's good to be the king... commercial properties tend to differ, but laws vary state to state.

Yeah, and the fact that I'm in MS, and that part of town isn't the most, well, quiet, I'm considering abandoning this one for now

What Are You Looking At?
| | Re: Shoot to Kill <Reply # 12 on 12/13/2007 6:39 AM >
| | | How about a miniature golf cart lined with body armor (1/2 inch steel should be okay) on the side panels, and while you're at it, wear body armor yourself (1/4 inch steel?). Never know how good a shot they are. As benefit, it will protect you from the blue blooded folks who aim their golf ball shots at you intentionally instead of the hole or greens. Oh, if you zig zag, that should help. You are a brave guy. Good luck.

You cannot shoot someone just because they criminally intruded into your home in most states. HOWEVER, you can use deadly force against someone who has criminally intruded into your home as long as you can articulate that you did so because you were in fear for your life. It doesn't matter much if that fear was determined to be unfounded after the fact (i.e. the intruder was a 13 year old, 105lb kid high on gold spray paint), just as long as you can articulate having that fear at the time of the incident. /-/oolie P.S.
