It looks to be abandoned, but I didn't get a close look. It can be clearly seen as it is across the river of downtown Houghton. Quincy mine used to melt copper there. Those doors stay closed...staring...waiting...plotting. And Asbestos, and a fence. It would be impossible to get in now. I drink gasoline for breakfeast and beer for dinner! Any problem can be licked with a case of beer and a few sticks of dynamite. The amount of asbestos in the place is truly staggering. And yes, it is an old abandoned copper smelter. You may also enjoy the little tiny boat a few miles down the road.
